NEW DELHI: At least two Fixed-Dose Combination (FDC) drugs, namely Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Ammonium Chloride + Sodium Citrate (used for cough relief) and Imipramine + Diazepam (used to treat depression) have been allowed by the government for manufacture and marketing in the country.
Officials said these FDCs — drugs made by combining two or more drugs in certain fixed dose combinations — were found to be rational by the expert committee. Three other FDCs, out of 19 that were reviewed by the panel, have been found rational but, government sources said, they need more data. “Such FDCs have been allowed to bemarketed subject to post market surveillance and reporting on data on medicinal value,” said a source
