For starters, the Wuling Air EV was recently spied on test on Indian roads, fully covered in camouflage. We expect MG Motor India to make use of the Wuling Air EV’s platform to introduce a new electric car in the Indian market to take on the most affordable EV in the country – the Tata Tiago EV. But it is yet to be seen how different the affordable MG EV would look like as compared to the Wuling Air.
Tata Tiago EV walkaround: Price, range and features | TOI Auto
We do expect the small MG EV to feature a boxy design in order to maximise space inside the cabin, despite its smallish dimensions. This will also help improve its maneuverability in urban areas, without compromising on practicality. The small size would also help MG keep the EV’s weight in check, hence, improving the driving range. For reference, the Wuling Air EV has a length of under 3 meters, but can still seat 4 occupants.
Considering all these factors, we expect the MG EV to be priced under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Do note that MG Motor is yet to reveal any details about its upcoming EV, but the small electric car will likely make its debut in the country early next year, probably at the 2023 Auto Expo in January.
Stay tuned to TOI Auto for more updates on the upcoming affordable MG EV!
