AYODHYA: Taking a dig at the opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Sunday that there was time when the very existence of Lord Ram would be questioned, leading to religious and cultural backwardness.
Taking part in Ayodhya’s Deepotsava for the first time, the PM said: “Ram ke baare mein, hamari sanskriti ke baare mein aur hamari sabhyata ke baare mein baat karne se bacha jaata that (they would not talk about Ram, our culture, our civilization). As a result, our cultural and religious places, and cities were neglected.”
“In the past eight years, the country has broken the shackles of inferiority complex and we have put forward the inclusive idea of developing the country’s religious places,” the PM said and added the country has restored the lost glory of the places of our faith and belief which were utterly neglected — from Ram Temple in Ayodhya to Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Kedarnath to Mahakaal in Ujjain.
With the lighting of 15.76 lakh earten lamps, Ayodhya Deepotsava set another Guinness record. PM Modi handed over the Guinness certificate to chief minister Yogi Adityanath amid the laser show and electronic fire work at the Ram Ki Pauri, the Saryu bank. The previous record was set in Ujjain, where 11.71 days had been lit on the occasion of Maha Shivratri this year.
Speaking at the Ram Katha Park after a symbolic coronation ceremony, the PM said Ram was a symbol of unity, nationalism and values inculcated by him through his words, thoughts and rule are the inspiration for “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. These are also a basis for “sabka vishwas, sabka prayas”, he added.
He went on to say that “Lord Ram doesn’t leave anyone behind, doesn’t turn away from anyone. Development in the truest sense takes place only when every section develops. Through Ram Lilas, Saryu Aarti, Grand Deepotsav, Lord Ram’s glory and India’s rich tradition is reaching to the world.
He said that he got the opportunity of having the deity’s “darshan” due to his blessings. “I am happy that people of Ayodhya, the entire UP and world are witnessing this event. As we are celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava’, the determination of Lord Ram will take the country to new heights,” he said.
Invoking nationalism, the PM said that country had exhorted freedom from salvery and feeling of pride for our legacy during ‘Azadi ka Amrit Kaal’ and added that even this inspiration had come from Lord Ram who had said, “Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi” (Mother and motherland are superior than even heaven).
The PM said Lord Ram’s ideals are a beacon of light for people aspiring for a developed India in next 25 years and give the “courage to achieve the most difficult goals”.
Later, at Ram Ki Paidi, minutes before the light and sound show after 15.76 lakh diyas were lit, Modi said India had no equal in celebrating the triumph of truth and defeat of falsehood. While greeting the audience, the PM even equated ‘Ram Bhakts’ to ‘Deshbhakts, starting his speech with “Sabhi devtulya Awadhwasi, desh aur duniya mein upasthit sabhi Ram Bhakt-Bharat bhakt…”
“The grand celebration at today’s Ayodhya will herald the re-emergence of cultural India, ” the PM said, adding: “Today Ayodhya is a reflection of the golden chapter of India’s rejuvenation.” Even though Lord Ram killed demon Ravana thousands of years ago, still each message of humanity and spirituality constantly beacons in the form of each diya, he said.
“These diyas are not just commodities but energy resources of the country’s value and principles,” Modi said. The PM said that he had a firm belief that the spiritual light in the form of millions of diyas would shower light on the country’s development path.
People should remember one more thing that Lord Ram is the light source for the whole universe and Ram to brotherhood, fraternity and sense of community and equality.
This was the PM’s first visit to Ayodhya after a “bhoomi pujan” for the construction of a Ram temple on August 5, 2020.
After reaching Ayodhya, the PM was welcomed by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He then went to the makeshift Ram temple and offered prayers to Ram Lalla. He also took a round of the under-construction temple ite where he was also briefed by officials.
The Prime Minister also witnessed the 3-D holographic projection mapping show and a musical laser show at Ram Ki Paidi on the banks of River Saryu.
